Moses and Lyons take November BBL awards
Victor Moses and Atiba Lyons were announced this week as respective winners of the BBL’s player and coach of the month awards for November.
The figures that helped secure the player of the month award for Cheshire Phoenix’s Moses during his first full month in the sqaud included, most notably, his 23 points and 14.2 boards on average per game. Those stats are complimented by his 61.7% shooting accuracy and an incredible 37 offensive boards.
To date, he has made a double-double in seven of his eight performances for the Phoenix so far, which include last Sunday’s huge upset at home to Newcastle Eagles.
Lyons, head coach of the Sheffield Sharks, scooped the coach of the month prize, after guiding his players to six wins from seven in November.
Two BBL Cup victories, over London Lions and Durham Wildcats, en route to the semi-final stage, together with four wins in the BBL Championship, including a 19-point blitz over fellow title contenders Worcester Wolves, have seen his side right in the mix at the top of the table.
The only loss for Lyons and his Sharks came at the hands of the Lions – where the London side have not lost once in regulation play at the Copper Box (Lions’ only defeat at home, so far, was against Wolves in overtime).
Lyons and his team’s winning ways were rounded off in November against the Newcastle Eagles in the first leg semi-final of the BBL Cup. They now carry through a slender lead into the return leg on Friday 13th December at Sport Central.
