Northern returns to BBL with Glasgow Rocks
The Glasgow Rocks have confirmed their first signing of the off-season with ex-Lions centre Daniel Northern joining the Emirates Arena outfit.
Northern, 27, led the BBL with 12.1 rebounds per game two years ago, also chipping in with 15.6 PPG. He spent last season in South America, averaging close to 19 points and 11 rebounds per game for Osorno (Chile) and Halcones del Norte (Colombia).
Rocks coach Sterling Davis admitted to being delighted with his new recruit, saying : “Daniel is a guy we have been heavily recruiting over the last year now. He is exactly the player we need; and have been lacking over the last few seasons with his tenaciousness both in scoring and rebounding.”
Davis, who is entering the final year of his contract in Glasgow, added : “It’s a great start to be able to bring in a big guy who has experience and personal success in this league.”
The Rocks will be hosting their annual open trials on 27 July, with Davis running the rule over potential signings heading into the 2013/14 season.
