Raftopoulos signs on for Heat

Creon Raftopoulos has been re-signed as head coach for Guildford Heat for the 2011/2012 season. He is currently pulling his BBL team together in time for the first home game at Surrey Sports Park, which is a BBL Trophy game against Plymouth Raiders on Sunday 2 October.

Creon Raftopoulos commented, “It is a privilege to be head coach of a team with such strong history. Guildford Heat’s managing director, Alison Reeve and I share the same vision for the club and it is with real excitement that I approach the new season.

“Last season was pretty successful after the trials and tribulations which the club and team went through. We set a goal of making the Play Offs, which we achieved and we had the added bonus of reaching the BBL Trophy final. This season we are looking to improve on our 7th place finish and push as hard as we can for success on and off the court. I want our players to put on a show of heart and commitment during every game so that our fans return in their numbers for the next game knowing what to expect.”

Announcements about player signings will be made over the next few weeks. There will be a chance to see the new 2011/2012 team in action at a pre-season game at the end of September.

Season tickets and game tickets are now on sale from the Surrey Sports Park box office . For a full list of fixtures for the season or further information, visit www.guildfordheat.com.
