Riders go Polish and add Losonsky
The Leicester Riders have continued their successful summer recruitment by signing Slovakian forward, Pavol Losonsky, this week.
The former UC Irivine University player left the Big West after his second season, moving on to spend time in the Slovakian leagues, most recently with Spisska Nova Ves where Losonsky played in 30 games averaging 15.4ppg and 7.1rpg in just over 32 minutes a game.
Riders Head Coach Rob Paternostro is eager to see how the newest member of the Leicester Riders plays in the BBL, having wanted him since last season.
“Pavel is a guy we looked at last year but unfortunately we weren’t able to sign him,” said the fifth year Head Coach. “This season we looked into him again and he was very interested at coming to play for us.”
“(Losonsky is) a guy that’s played college basketball in America, Division I, he’s versatile. He can play inside and outside. He has the ability to score. If you look at some of his games last year, he put up some big numbers. He had a solid season.
“Depending on how we look, we feel like he can fill many different roles and he’s still a young player who has the enthusiasm to want to get better.”
Losonsky, 24, becomes the fourth new signing for the Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders following the captures of Fraley, Taylor and Calvo.
