Riders look to re-sign GB star Sullivan
There are noises coming out of the Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders camp that they are exploring the possibility of Great Britain Captain, Andrew Sullivan, returning to the 2011/12 BBL Play-off runners-up.
Sullivan, who helped lead the Leicester Riders to their highest ever league finish last season, is currently with Team GB in preparation for the Summer Olympics. But during a trip to Loughborough recently, the Riders met with the 6’5 forward to discuss his plans for next season.
“Team GB spent a couple of days in Loughborough after they returned to the UK and we felt that there would not have been a better opportunity to meet up with one of our stars from 2011/12…We’re working hard to recruit him.” said Riders General Manager, Russell Levenston on the official Leicester Riders website.
If Sullivan returns to the Riders, it will be his second season with the club and the perfect opportunity to build on the good work of last year.
“Drew, last season, was instrumental in everything we did on both offense and defence last season,” said Head Coach of the Riders, Rob Paternsotro. “We made it pretty clear to Drew at the end of the season that we were interested in him returning.”
With the start of the Olympics only weeks away, the window for signing Sullivan is closing quickly and any move for the London-born forward will need to be completed soon.
