Riders sign Spanish guard Jorge Calvo
The Jelson Homes Leicester Riders have struck for the second time in as many days as they announced today the signing of Spanish guard, Jorge Calvo.
Calvo, 24, spent last season with Baloncesto Leon SAD, in the LEB Gold League in Spain – his first in professional basketball – during which time he averaged 4 ppg in 17 minutes per game.
Versatile Calvo will likely be used to cover both the point guard role – vacated by 2011/12 starter Cameron Rundles who is now an Assistant Coach at Wofford College – and also the shooting guard role, previously filled by Bradd Wierzbicki.
It is unknown whether Bradd Wierzbicki will be returning to the Riders for the 2012/13 season for a third spell with the club.
