Ryan Lewis goes from Warrior to Knight

Birmingham Knights have yet again been busy at work in filling up their roster, as 6′ 7″ forward, Ryan Lewis, became their third signing of the week.

After two seasons spent with Leicester Warriors, the hometown player is seen as a versatile forward who can take boards well and play some aggressive defence.

Representing England at U16 level, Lewis studied at Santa Ana Community College in the USA returning to England for two-season spells with both Derby Trailblazers and the Warriors.

Speaking on his move to the Knights, Lewis said: “Me and the rest of the squad have been putting in work during training and in the gym, it hasn’t been easy but it’s been worth it and that will show when we step on court.

“I’m gassed that once again Birmingham has a team and even more so that I can be one of the people to put this city on our back and battle over the next season,” the newest member of the squad went on to say.

Coach Douglas was already very keen to sign the player up since his first walked through the doors at the Knights: “I’ve had my eye on Ryan since I was offered the Head Coach’s role.

“Ryan is an excellent athlete who finished top in our combine testing back in May, which showed he has a strong inside game but can step out to make the shot, he had reinforced this over the past two months at training while also proving his qualities as a leader. Ryan has made an excellent addition to the squad and I’m looking forward to see him develop further throughout the season.”
