Scott keen to stay
British defenceman Daniel Scott is hoping to be a part of the Excel Hull Stingrays fraternity for years to come.
The 19-year-old Great Britain junior international was on a two-way deal with Coventry Blaze and English Premier League side Telford Tigers last season.
But he decided it was time to make a permanent move to the highest level and had no hesitation in joining Stingrays when player-coach Sylvain Cloutier came calling this summer.
Scott, who impressed Cloutier as England thrashed Scotland 10-0 in an international match during the Elite League Final Four play-off weekend in Nottingham in April, is now determined to take his chance.
He said: “I just felt it was the right time to move up. I got a little taster of the Elite League when I was on my two-way with Coventry. I am still young and a lot of people my age, being given the chance to play in the Elite League, would take it.
“I will give it a crack and hopefully it will work out. I am ready for the challenge.”
Scott is also looking forward to working with experienced import defensive duo Josh Mizerek and Dmitry Rodin.
He added: “They are so experienced and have played the game at a high level for years, I can only learn from them.
“I am sure they can help me improve as a player and bring my game on in leaps and bounds.
“Hopefully I can be in Hull a long time to do that. I don’t want to be a player who moves around all the time. I would rather stay at a club for a while and that is what I hope to do in Hull.”
Stingrays take on Sheffield Steelers at Hull Arena on Sunday September 11 (6pm face-off). Tickets can be purchased by ringing the Hull Arena Box Office on 01482 325252.
