Serge invites Schall to NBA game

Who would have thought how one jam could capture the attention of the NBA’s top blocker, so much so, that the dunker in question now has been specially invited to the NBA Global Games by the man himself.

Less than a fortnight ago, Nathan Schall was no doubt psyching himself up for the NBA 3X event in Manchester, hoping his side could claim top honours; that which they did, but it’s one play out of the entire two days of the event that will remain etched in the memories of those who were there.

THAT dunk which Serge Ibaka went nuts about.

(If you still don’t know which one we are talking about check this out – nicely edited by Sam Neter at Hoopsfix bringing it to you in slooooow-motion)

This went viral, it went huge on YouTube thanks to Ibaka retweeting me and the NBA posting it via their social media channels, before finding its way on to WorldStarHipHop where numbers went through the roof.

Currently, across these two channels alone the view count has reached over 770,000 views and rising.

What will make it rise further is Wednesday night’s development when OKC Thunder’s Ibaka invited Schall to the NBA Global Games pre-season fixture of Thunder against Philadelphia 76ers at Manchester Arena on October 6th.

The Spanish international has apparently been taken aback by the response on social media to Schall’s slam, and clearly it has been on the mind of ‘Iblocka’ ever since, which resulted in him retweeting the video once more together with the offer to the BBL player of having the chance to attend the first ever fixture between two NBA teams in Manchester later this year.

The Mancunian forward spoke to UKAmericanSportsFans.com about how everything has gone at a whirlwind pace since NBA 3X.

“It’s completely surreal; I just was not expecting it,” said Schall, “The tournament was over and the video had gone online, but it was dying down. Then to get that tweet [from Ibaka] last night – just surreal, it’s the only word I can use to describe it!”

Last night there were calls for Schall to get his chance to shine in front of a full house at Manchester Arena and recreate his dunk (and hopefully Serge’s dancing) when the Thunder and the 76ers roll into town.
