Shooting guard Simmons goes from Sixers to Sharks
This morning One Health Sharks Sheffield confirmed their first permit signing with the services of shooting guard Jeremie Simmons.
Simmons spent last season in the German ProB with BSW Sixers averaging 19 points per game. The 6′ 2″ Chicago native also gained a reputation as a fine three point shooter, posting 40.2% from beyond the arc, 55.2% from inside and 86% from the free throw line.
Prior to his time in Germany, Simmons was a part of the prestigious Ohio State University programme. The 25-year-old averaged 5.8 points per game for the Buckeyes after being a mid-term transfer from Mott Community College.
Speaking of gaining Simmons signature, Sharks MD Sarah Backovic said: “We are thrilled to have secured Jeremie to the Sharks for the forthcoming season; his pedigree was an important aspect to our recruitment and the way Atiba has approached the team – he will be a great fit.
“In addition to Brian Barbour and Nick Lewis, we have an exciting back court and we can focus on our last positions over the coming weeks.”
Simmons joins returnees Mike Tuck and Nick Lewis on the Sharks roster in addition to confirmed new additions Brian Barbour and Patrick Horstmann.
Further signings are expected to be announced in advance of the Sharks’ first BBL Championship game at home to Cheshire Phoenix on Friday 27th September.
