Statement from Cheshire Jets Supporters Action Group
After Monday night’s meeting, we reconvened on Wednesday.
The discussion we held came to the conclusion that we as supporters need to do whatever it takes to remain united and focused that basketball will carry on in the Chester and Cheshire area. We believe there is too much of a passionate dedicated following to just let it peter out.
There are countless examples of how basketball and the Jets, in whatever guise over the years, have impacted on people’s lives. Individuals, families, the community as a whole; the game has always been there for people.
Right now, we need to be there for the game, and more specifically the Jets family.
Discussions, we believe, are said to be on-going with potential investors and Pete Hawkins, who is working extremely hard in order to secure the future and putting a team out on court hopefully for the start of this season.
However, for the benefit of swift action to save the club, we must allow these talks to continue without disruption and give full support and stay positive in the knowledge that everybody involved wants to see professional basketball continue in this area.
In the meantime, the key is to stay upbeat, as I have said in the Chester Chronicle, the club has been saved once before and it can be saved again.
Please pass this message on to anybody you know who supports the Jets, or who has any interest in the team whatsoever.
We hope there is more information to come over the weekend, and once we know, the first people we speak to will be the supporters.
