Stingrays defeated in Sheffield
Excel Hull Stingrays were shut out for the first time this season as they were beaten 6-0 by Sheffield Steelers at the Sheffield Arena in the Rapid Solicitors Elite League.
Mike Ramsay put Steelers, unbeaten at home this season, into the lead on the powerplay after 90 seconds.
Ashley Tait, with a delayed penalty goal, and Neil Clark added further markers by the end of the first period.
In a scoreless second session, Stingrays forward Dominic Osman dropped the gloves with Steeler Mike Stephenson, with each earning five-minute fighting penalties.
Tait grabbed his second in the 46th minute and Ramsay scored again five minutes later before player-coach Ryan Finnerty rounded off the scoring with 69 seconds left.
Steelers netminder John DeCaro saved 23 shots for his shut-out.
