Szwez to dress for Belfast again
The Belfast Giants have announced tonight that forward Jeffrey Szwez will dress for the Northern Ireland outfit again for the first time in four years. Szwez was part of the Playoff Championship winning Giants in 2010.
The signing of the Szwez signals the completion of the summer activity off the ice for Belfast.
During Szwez’s 2009/10 season with the Giants, he was one of the most influential players in the Elite League contributing 45 goals and 25 assists to the campaign, which translated to 70 points from 54 games played.
Belfast Giants General Manager Todd Kelman announced the return of Szwez at Thursday night’s fan event in W5 and had this to say, “The signing of Jeffrey Szwez speaks for itself. I believe he was a huge reason why we won the Playoff Championship in 2010 and he becomes a very important final piece in our plans for the season. Szwez is big, strong, good in the corners and is used to playing at a higher level that the Elite League. He is an incredibly fierce competitor and will put the puck in the net for the Giants this season. Szwez will be a leader on the ice for us as well as a firm fan favourite and I am excited to get him back in a Giants jersey and onto the Odyssey Arena ice against Bolzano next Saturday & Sunday.”
