Things aren’t so “Bland” now Alif has arrived

The outlook over a month ago looked bleak. Now it’s just Bland, Alif Bland, as the final piece of the Cheshire Jets puzzle is put in place as the North West side made today’s announcement.

Since Kenny Moore touched down last Saturday, Cheshire Jets are now pleased to announce the final signing in Alif Bland that completes our line-up.

Firstly, Kenny Moore, who made his Jets debut in the opening game of the season versus Leicester Riders, comes to Cheshire Jets from Philadelphia, via Tennessee State University.

The 6’ 7” forward, in his junior year, was named in the All-OVC Second and All-Newcomer Teams, along with being named OVC Newcomer of the Week three times.

He finished that season as TSU Tigers’ leading scorer (14.5 ppg) and second in rebounds (6.9 rpg), and last year, in his senior year, he averaged 7.2 points and 3.0 rebounds.

Alif Bland, a 6’ 8” centre, heralds from Albany, New York, and is fresh from Roberts Wesleyan College.

In his 2011/12 senior year, he averaged over 31 minutes, 15.4 points, 54.7% field goal success together with 7.9 rebounds over a 28-game season.

“I’m excited to be over in England with a new team, coach, and players. It is a very different experience for me, and I’m excited by the newness of everything already, but looking forward to a good year”, said Bland after flying in to the country.

This is Alif’s first season outside of America also, and although having touched down only this week, has trained with the rest of the team and will be ready in time for this weekend’s game against Mersey Tigers.
