Tigers Appeal For New Leadership

Local sports fans and members of the business community are invited to take the helm of Telford Tigers as the supporters’ trust which owns and manages the team prepares for its second Annual General Meeting.

The AGM takes place on Thursday July 21, 2011, at Telford Ice Rink and nominations have been invited for eleven places on the Trust Board.

Board secretary Rita MacKriel said: “Lots of people tell us they would like to get more involved with the club, to help us out. Now is their chance to make a real difference by standing for the Board and playing a more active role in the running of the club.

“The Tiger Tracks supporters’ trust is the only one of its kind in the UK, and we need reliable and enthusiastic people – who really care about the future of ice hockey in Shropshire – to help continue the work we began in our first year last season.

“We also need members to renew their trust membership, and to encourage new members. The more people who join us, the more successful Telford Tigers can be – on and off the ice.”

Trust membership forms can be downloaded from www.telfordtigers.co.uk and anyone interested in joining the supporters’ trust Board should contact secretary@telfordtigers.co.uk for more information.

The Tiger Tracks trust was established to own and operate Telford’s Premier League ice hockey team, which is coached by GB international Tom Watkins.

The club has forged strong links with Telford & Wrekin Council, the local business community and schools throughout the Borough with the aim of introducing more people to the sport of ice hockey, developing and maintaining a sustainable business plan for the club, and delivering an exciting and successful team.
