VIDEO: The Wrap-Up: NBA admits Love gets screwed in Minny loss
Keith Firmin brings you The Wrap-Up on all of last night’s NBA games including Greg Monroe’s nasty dunk on Wall and Tyreke’s game-winner.
Washington @ Detroit
The Wizards made it two wins out of two against the Pistons by beating them for the second straight game, 106-99. Washington held Detroit to just 12 fourth quarter points as they won their 14th game of the season. John Wall finished with 29 points, going 14-of-15 from the free throw stripe.
Greg Monroe baptizes John Wall:
Chicago @ Memphis
The Bulls refuse to give up on the play-offs as they battle for the 8th seed in the subpar East. Their third win in four games came against the Grizzlies, 95-91. Carlos Boozer finished with a double-double while Mike Conley led all scorers with 26 points.
Now you see it, now you don’t:
Dallas @ Minnesota
Controversy at the final buzzer tainted the Mavericks’ 100-98 win over the Timberwolves, with Kevin Love believing he should have been sent to the line after being fouled by Marion on the final play. The whistle wasn’t blown and the Mavs escaped with the win but later comment from the NBA confirmed that Love was fouled and should have been awarded the free throws:
“Through postgame video review, we have determined that Minnesota’s Kevin Love was fouled on the right arm by Dallas’ Shawn Marion while attempting a two-point field goal. Love should have been awarded two free throws with one second left on the clock.”
Love finished with 36 points while Marion had 32 points.
That final play:
Portland @ New Orleans
When Damian Lillard tied the game with a long bomb and time expiring, you could have been forgiven for thinking the game was going to overtime. But Tyreke Evans had other ideas as he wasted no time in progressing the ball, isolating on the wing and nailing the game-winning jump shot as the Pelicans beat the Blazers, 110-108. The Blazers have now lost back-to-back games by a combined three points. Jrue Holiday finished the game leading all scorers with 31 points along with 11 assists. Joel Freeland notched four points and five rebounds in 12 minutes.
Tyreke wins it!
Miami @ Denver
LeBron James returned from a groin injury to score 26 points and grab 10 rebounds as the Heat beat the Nuggets, 97-94. Ty Lawson scored 26 points in Denver’s seventh straight defeat.
Charlotte @ Utah
Kemba Walker missed a couple of opportunities to give the Bobcats victory before the Jazz sealed their 10th win of the season from the free throw line in an 83-80 win. Trey Burke led all scorers with 21 points.
Phoenix @ Los Angeles Clippers
The Suns have been the surprise package of the first half of the season, winning 19 games under the stewardship of Coach Hornacek. Their latest win came against division rivals, the LA Clippers, when they soundly dispatched them 107-88. Goran Dragic had 26 points, eight assists and five steals in the win and Gerald Green added 21 points off the bench.
