What does the BBA have to offer?

The British Basketball Association is becoming vociferous again.

The BBC Radio 5 Live interview aired Thursday night in the interval of the Pistons versus Knicks game involved the BBA Chief Commercial Officer, David Paton, and the Association has been more active in the press in recent weeks.

After several “false dawns”, where does the BBA currently sit in the grand scheme of British Basketball?

Their ‘2014 General Presentation’ appears to summarise the current position. It doesn’t appear to be very complimentary to the BBL (‘current professional league poorly managed’) or British Basketball’s governing bodies (‘fragmented and disorganized governing body system’) but it does set its stall out for a 30-game season targeted for November–April of 2013-14 involving six to eight teams.

Again, there are few specifics (Where will the franchises be located? What venues will they be using? No financial information) but Chairman Ken Olisa OBE states that “the BBA intends to do for UK basketball what the Premier League has done for soccer.”

Another false dawn? Only time will tell. Read the attached document and decide for yourself.
