Yorrick Williams signs for Riders

The Leicester Riders have today announced the signing of BBL veteran, Yorrick Williams, on a season long deal.

The move comes following the loss of guard John Griffin who returned to America before Christmas to mull over his future both with basketball and away from it.

Paternostro spoke to www.leicesterriders.co.uk on both Williams and Griffin saying:

“With John (Griffin) deciding to go back to the States, he isn’t playing basketball at the moment and isn’t sure where his future is, there was an opportunity for Yorrick to come in.”

“All season Yorrick expressed an interest in joining our club. He contacted me about practising with us (and so) Yorrick has been practising with us for three months. He’s very familiar with our personnel and what we do as a team (so) putting him out on the floor against Durham, it wasn’t like having a new player because he’s already been with us.”

Williams will bring an explosive element to the Riders, both emotionally and in terms of his game, and there will be no better time to see the new signing at his best when the Riders host the Milton Keynes Lions (his former employer) on Sunday 21st January 2012.

Details about tickets for the game can be found at the official Leicester Riders website.
